Loading Desktop: "Reading Folder" message for six seconds

Since about a week ago, it seems that DO takes a long time to load the Desktop in the file display.
It shows a "Reading Desktop" message for about six seconds.
I am not sure what has changed, and after a little troubleshooting, I am a bit stumped.

  • On an old post I read about /dopusdata/Formats/system.off. I renamed the file (which was only 88kb). No difference.

  • In Prefs / Folder Tree / Options, I have "Start folder at Desktop" and "Populate contents for local devices only".

  • As far as I can tell, the Desktop only has files, folders, "File Collections", Network, Recycle Bin and My Computer.

I would be grateful for any insights.

Wishing you all a fun 3rd of Jan.

Move everything from your desktop folder to somewhere else, so it's empty. Does it still happen? If not, move things back until you work out which one was causing the problem.

Does it happen if you navigate somewhere else and then back to Desktop?

Does it only happen when opening a new window?

This issue completely disappeared in 10.0.3.1.
