When a file highlighted in a folder, then typing invokes a search (typed text becomes yellow highlighted text when occuring).
Is there a workaround or setting to start renaming the file without having to click (and wait a bit) and then type?
Thx

There isn't, and I think the potential for accidentally renaming a file because you typed into the wrong window by mistake would be too high if typing alone would rename things. Especially as Windows makes it harder and harder to tell which window is active in each release.
But you can push F2 to start renaming a file immediately without having to click or wait. (Note: If your keyboard has "F-Lock" then the "F2" key may not be an F2 key by default.)
