Managing Search Options

I tried looking for answers to this problem, but I don't even really know what keywords to look for. I'm new to Directory Opus and am still trying to get a handle on its features. One feature I noticed that's different from standard Windows Explorer is that the search function archives text files as well. This is good, useful for searching for documents when you can't remember the exact title. It's also very irritating if you know the exact title of a file but don't remember which folder you put it in.

I like the feature, but I don't know how to turn it off, to look for only titles. This is the main reason I made this thread. However, since I'm here, I wouldn't mind advice on other techniques for searching files. Is it possible to search for only specific sub-folders within a larger folder using the searchbar? Even better, is it possible to search within a shortcut to another folder? Sometimes I get a notification that the place I'm searching has not been indexed, how do I ensure the whole computer has been indexed so I don't get that problem?

Both Opus and File Explorer will look at the contents of text files, although the details of when they do/don't may differ slightly.

If you are using the search field at the top right of the window, that sends the query you type to Windows Search, which does the rest. The syntax is linked from the manual page on the search field, and the same as in File Explorer. You can prefix the search string with name: to make it only consider filenames and not contents.

You can also use Tools > Find Files in Opus for a more straightforward search interface which uses Opus's own code instead of Windows Search and thus doesn't require that you memorise any special keywords.
