I plan to move DO to a new PC, with different paths and drive letters. I've got many collections which point to locations on the old PC that will be different on the new PC.
Whats the best practice to adjust paths before or between or after the migration? Which setting files do Ibhave to take care of?
In %appdata% > GPSoftware > Directory Opus > Collections you can find the *.cct files, which contain the paths for your collections. Maybe you can search and replace them (make sure you exit Opus), without breaking anything.
But you would better wait until Leo or Jon (or any other user who actually tried it successfully) gives a green light, because editing stuff can cause problems.
Collections are only a single part of this migration task, guess there are different ones, e.g. file status labels and others setting files which store drive letters or paths, to be adapted after (or before) migration.
Thanks for this tip! I prefer Notepad++ for such things
OTH, and that's the main reason why I started this thread, I do not know for sure if DO keeps settings in binary or compress files, too, without any chance of finding occurrences of paths fragments.
