Haven't used the viewer split window before in the lister to view videos, but I have a several folders with QT mov files and started using the preview pane to view the films. I am having an issue where various films play at high speed, yet if I move off and play another film and come back to the original it will play at the right speed. This doesn't always work and the high speed playback happens randomly with any film. Using ffdshow produces silent (but correctly running) previews.
Opus itself doesn't know how to play movie files so everything is up to either the installed video codecs & splitters (if the Opus Movie plugin is being used) or the installed ActiveX controls / preview handlers / etc. (if the ActiveX + Preview + Office + Web plugin is being used).
If you're using 64-bit Windows then the codec situation is slightly more complicated, too. (Opus is 64-bit and may be using different codecs to most other video players, which are almost always 32-bit, unless you've made sure the 64 and 32-bit codecs/splitters are consistent.) Checking what Windows Media Player does is still worth doing, just to see if it's doing the same thing.
tried it with the windows media player - through DOP - and as I mentioned it plays the files at the correct speed but without sound. If I play the files outside DOP they all work fine.
Is there a way to have VLC manage the videos within DOP, so that the viewer is VLC?
Thanks Leo. Shame about VLC but actually just helped my life by associating all mov files with VLC - not sure why I hadn't thought of that before, but VLC opens much quicker than QTplayer, which was really the object of using the DOP viewer.
