I'm stumped with an issue launching a video file through Opus 9.1.3.0.
Intermittantly when I launch a video file like an AVI or WMV file from Opus my video player (Windows media player, VLC or Media player classic) will hang. Along with the video player hanging, Opus will hang too. If I force Opus to close, the browser will also close.
The sympthoms are very intermittent but persistent. This never happened to me on older versions of Opus so at this point I'm inclined to believe that Opus is causing the problems.
Tonight I tried refreshing the codec pack for the media players (Using the popular k-lite pack) to see if that helped. It has not.
Other info:
It tends to happen with large files greater that 700mb.
Happens the most with WMV files
Happends with some AVI files
Files exist on a network share that seems very stable
The first thing I'd try is remove the 'codec pack' and use something much less prone to problems. Try FFDShow to provide decoding for the major formats.
Does it happen if you open the file via the player's File->Open menu instead of via Opus/Explorer?
Tried disabling real-time anti-virus scanning? (Might be scanning video files for exploits.)
Is the viewer open in Opus?
Which display mode is Opus using?
Do you have any columns switched on that cause Opus to inspect the video data (e.g. Description, Width, Video Codec, etc.)?
Does it happen if you hover over a file in Opus and cause the tooltip + thumbnail to appear? What if you do that just after starting the video to play? Something like that could be the secret; i.e. making it so that both the video player and Opus are accessing the video data at the same time. Maybe a graphics/video driver/codec or a/v scanner on your system goes wrong if that happens.
