Moving Files very slow (with descript.ion support)

I have been using Total Commander, which supports descript.ion, and am now evaluating Dopus as it also supports descript.ion.

However, when I move files using Dopus it is much slower than Total Commander.

For example, I have a directory Dir1 with 5733 files small jpeg files (~ 100-200 KB). The files are described in descript.ion.

I moved 500 files to a blank directory, Dir2, on the same hard drive partition and measured the time to move.

Using Dopus: 3 min 14 sec
Using Total Commander: 24 sec.

It takes about 8 times longer to move the files using Dopus!?

Note that if I turn of support for descript.ion, Dopus move time is only 9 sec.

Is this a limitation of Dopus descript.ion support?[/u]

p.s. How do I edit my post..??

Does Total Commander actually update the descript.ion file when you move the files?

Yes (It is an option like in Dopus)

Can this be improved in Dopus?

Currently Opus 9 updates the descript.ion file separately every time a file is copied or moved; Opus 10 will move to using a caching system so the file is only written to disk periodically which will make a big difference to the speed.

OK. Any ETA for v.10?
