Multirow toolbars?

Hi,
I have marked a number of folders as favorites and would like to be able to view them in a scrolling format similar to the bookmarks toolbar add on for Firefox (for example, 2 rows visible with scrollbar on the right). I checked in preferences and this apparently can't be configured there. How would i do this?
Thanks!
Sue

Can you show a screenshot of what you want?

I have attached a screenshot of a portion of my bookmarks toolbar in Firefox to give you the idea. In FF, my bookmarks actually take up about 5 rows, but through CSS I have specified the height in order to present just 2 rows, and the scroll bar is on the right.

Thanks so much,
Sue

There's no way to get exactly that in Opus, with the scrollbar etc.

You can have Favourites in menus or on toolbars, and put different branches of the Favorites tree on different toolbars/rows. Or it might be easier not to use Favorites at all but to simply drag & drop folders on to the toolbar(s) to create buttons for them.

You could also use Styles or Folder Tabs to give you a horizontally scrolling list of tabs. (Or a set of tabs with a menu which contains the tabs that won't fit on screen, depending on whether Opus is set to use a menu or scroll the tabs to handle the overflow.)

Another idea is to have several toolbars with Favorites/path buttons on them, and some buttons (or hotkeys) elsewhere that swap which toolbars are displayed. You can do that using the "Toolbar" command. That could make sense if your aim is to be able to get quick access to different sets of favourites depending on what kind of work you are doing. (A bit like the Ribbon toolbar in Office 2007, I suppose.)

Leo,
The folder tabs idea sounds like it would work. how would I do that?
Thanks,
sue

Just create lots of folder tabs (e.g. via the Ctrl-T hotkey), point them at the places you want and then use Settings -> Set As Default Lister so that those tabs will always be opened when you open a new window.

You can also lock the tabs so that they either cannot be changed (double-clicking folders in them will open new tabs and leave the locked one alone) or so that they can be changed but clicking on their tab again will reset them to their original location.

To do the locking stuff, right-click the icon (not the label) of a tab and then use the Lock Tab sub-menu. Then use Settings -> Set As Default Lister as before.

Note: At the moment if you open a new Opus window by double-clicking a folder outside of Opus, then that window will only contain the double-clicked folder and won't contain all your folder tabs. The tabs will only appear if you open a new lister via the Desktop context menu, double-clicking the desktop, double-clicking the tray icon, or the Win-O hotkey (by default).

Ah, ok, thanks. I thought you were talking about creating tabs on a toolbar. I have created a new toolbar with my overflow favorites until DOpus can enable the multirow bookmarks feature. It has solved my problem except that of course, I can't drag a tab to add to it unless I am in customize mode, but I'm not adding to the favorites everyday, so it is a good interim solution.

Many thanks, Leo for that suggestion!
