Navigating through favourites using keyboard - and no ENTER

Hi All,

One of the most powerful things about Windows Explorer (on XP) for me is that I can quickly navigate through four to five levels of nested folders using the keyboard..

e.g.
Alt > A (for Favourites) > B (some folder name starting with B..) > C > D > F
etc to open shortcut F in a nested folder whose name begins with D.

Can I do this in Opus?

So far, I put all my first level folders from I.E.'s favourites into Opus' favourites... but that just means the first key after Alt+A opens the directory in Opus' main window.. i.e. it turns the sequence above into this:

Alt > A (for Favourites) > B (some folder name starting with B..) - now this window is opened in the main Opus frame.

C + ENTER > D + ENTER > F + ENTER

So far I like Opus, but it needs to match this functionality for me to replace Windows Explorer..

Just to illustrate the point..

I don't think you can do exactly that using favorites.

You could do it by making a menu with sub-menus and items which run the Go PATH="" command to go to your various paths. In that case you can use the & character before letters in their labels to make it so you can push those letters to activate them.

Managing those menus would be a bit more effort than using the favorites system but not much more.

Opus also allows you to define hotkeys for favorites. These work without the menu having to be opened but I'm guessing you want to see a menu as you have a lot of paths and remembering the key for each of them would be taxing.

A third alternative would be to go to /favorites (which is a built-in folder alias that will take you to your favorites folder) and the navigate via that as you would a normal folder. In that case you can push the first letter, return, first letter, return until you're in the place you want. I find it quite quick. It does involve the return key, though, and I guess you may want to avoid that if you plan to have your other hand on the mouse.
