New SFTP

I read through the new SFTP notes a few times to try to ensure I am not reporting anything already listed, but I don't fully understand all of the jargon here. For instance, the hiding of .dotfiles only brings to mind .htaccess to me .

I don't really do any php programming anymore nor have I done so in years, but I still maintain web space for storage and email addresses. I live in a rural area nearby a cell phone tower but down in a hollow surrounded by tall forest. I do have a cell tower internet access that actually works ( most don't ) but the service does not supply any email support. Hence, I still have web space with strange domain names. I just checked and @Leo's old web site with a strange name is also still there.

So what I have is that my SFTP login name has an actual directory name appended to it.
It reads username_DirName (12 lower case letters and numbers ) .
When I use the old SFTP it opens that directory even though it is two folders down from what the new SFTP is attempting to open. There is no initial directory specified in the Address Book Login .

The new SFTP attempts to open the higher folder which contains 14 folders.
But it balks, never returning more than 10 of them. In fact one folder, root, the login is attempting to retrieve results in access denied ( Error code 30018: Error from server (3): Permission denied).

Otherwise the new SFTP login is working. I can still get to the actual domains contained in deeper folders. I haven't tried specifying the correct initial directory yet as even though the folder retrieval failed at the top level, it did eventually try to open the correct lower level folder according to the log.

The web hosting company is UK based with a London street address.
They are cheap and reliable. That's why I use them.
They have a City Road EC1V 2NX address.

I'm not going to post logs here, but if you need them, I have a few saved.
I would also trust @Leo with this if needed.

Please send the logs, and details of how the site is set up.

Server-side initial folders for SFTP sites should be working in the next beta.
