I have purchased the usb stick license for Dopus.
And now want to move this from one USB Stick to another. Can I just move everything? And will it still work? Or does Dopus recognize this, and prevent it? Or is it pure, "you have bought 1 license, and we trust you to only use it on 1 stick".....
You just have to export Opus to the new stick, from the computer that has Opus installed on it. If you copy the files from one USB stick to the other than it won't work.
The system seems to err on the side of giving users the benefit of the doubt but if you export to a lot of different USB keys in a short period then it might block you until you request a new licence from GPSoft. I am guessing, though. I don't know the exact details of the system (I don't work for GPSoft).
Whatever the system is it shouldn't get in the way of any legitimate usage and it hasn't caused any problems so far that I know of. If there is a limit to the number of exports and you're unlucky enough to keep losing USB keys and having to export to new ones them I'm sure GPSoft will understand and provide a new licence, unless it happens every day or something suspicious like that.

I can't count the times that I've had a question and came here to find that you have provided an answer. Your patience and knowledge in dealing with all us inept newbies is a blessing and I am sure I am not alone in my appreciation. You may not officially represent GPS, but don't sell yourself short. What you know, you share. What you don't know, you tend to find out or figure out and share. This forum would not be the same without you.

Slightly different question, but same general topic.
Is there a separate license for the USB thing? Something I read lead me to believe that was the case, but when I went to purchase the upgrade there were no options whatsoever. It was upgrade/don't-upgrade. That's it. (I bought the advanced FTP option previously.) Should I have seen something for the USB option or is it included in the basic price?
Is there a separate license for the USB thing?
A USB license is a separate thing that costs about $8.50 US ($10 AU). I was given the option to purchase it when I went through the upgrade process. If you go to the purchase page and select to purchase a license, it lists USB/U3 Export (right under Advanced FTP) as one of the additions that you can add. I don't see where you can purchase it (or additional ones) after that initial purchase though.
D.
It sounds like either the advanced FTP license includes the USB or there's a bug in the upgrade ordering process. I already have the advanced FTP, so it makes sense that it would automatically be included in my upgrade, but I saw no option for the USB license. I guess I'll have to contact GPSoft directly.
It's not listed on the upgrade page, but once you go through to the ordering page it's listed there. You can also add it on later on from the online license manager.
I've just bought the USB licence and exported DOpus onto a USB stick. But when I try to start it on another computer I get an error message saying it can't find dopuslib.dll. I've copied dopuslib.dll onto the stick from my main computer but still get the same message. It feels as though there must be an obvious step I have missed out so before I start improvising I hope I can get some help here to find what it is.
Yes, I exported it via Settings > Backup & Restore. I haven't copied it from one USB stck to another. I may be in the wrong thread but there didn't seem to be much about USB export elsewhere in help and this thread was useful.
