New VLC version messed up some functionality

When double clicking folders on the desktop, VLC is trying to start instead of Opus, claiming some error for "file://C:.....\Desktop\Various/xyz.lnk".

Did anyone else had this problem & knows how to fix this? I know, it´s definitely not Opus´ fault, since the same happens when using Agent Ransack as a search program.

You might be able to repair it using Opus: Turn off Explorer Replacement mode, Apply/OK, then turn it back on again.

No, sorry, it didn´t change anything. When opening by right klick open or "open in Directory Opus" it will work, though. Seems to affect the double click on desktop only.

Is "open in Directory Opus" the default (i.e. bold) action when you right-click the folders?

If you're comfortable editing the registry, have a look at HKCR\Folder and HKCR\Directory. Maybe the things VLC has changed will be obvious.

Yes, i deleted a suspicious looking VLC entry, now it changed the behavior. Now Dopus´ search dialog is opening, but not the content of the folder. Is there maybe a way to reregister Opus as the main handler? Currently it´s not bold in the right click menu.

Turning Explorer Replacement off and then back on should re-register it.

Still no changes. I will wait until next minor version; installing it should fix it hopefully. It´s not too iporting to me, because i have only one folder on the desktop & it opens ok with right click. I only wondered, if someone else experienced this with the new VLC.

the new VLC has been very buggy for me, but i have not had this problem. rembmer that VLC automatically associates itself with all media files when you install it. i would suggest uninstalling it FULLY, either by manually removing leftover registry entries or by using Revo Uninstaller (freeware). then install it again, but turn off file associations during install.

i initially installed the new VLC over the old one, but i found that after i uninstalled it like this then reinstalled the new one, it worked much better.

Or go back to the old working version.
