The new Media Player from store doesn't support ActiveX and so is not usable in DO (preview pane).
Are there plans or is there already an alternative solution, if MS should replace the builtin player (supporting ActiveX) with the one from store?
BTW I would really welcome a more modern player for DO, as working with mediafiles is one main part.
It’s planned.
The Movie preview handler may also work, although Microsoft have abandoned it (like everything they do after a few years) and it doesn’t work in File Explorer. But I think it still works in Opus.

For testing I've uninstalled default WMP (Win 11) and with new one only a pic or cover appears (on video and mp3) in preview.
