Is it possible to compare two folders and just have displayed non-duplicates?
Up until now (now using a cloud syncing system) I have kept similar directories on work and home computers, and they any anything but identical re file contents.
I settled on auto syncing (cloud) my work computer files as the default and changed the location of all the home directories; so I have the identically named directories on the home computer which will contain some files which were never at work and need to go into the syncing directories for completeness.
So, I just need to compare two directories and find only the non-duplicates.
I have tried a few things, but nothing has worked yet - I thought doing a copy or move from one to the other and ignore duplicates would work, but it seems to ask the question each time what I want to do with a file with the same name.
WinMerge works for me, on a couple of FTP servers, Skydrive and GoogleDrive and 2 PCs. But I only use it to see differences - as its name implies it can also do the updating, I've never used those features
If you haven't already tried it, I suggest you do a search here to see what other people think - it gets mentioned in 36 threads. I haven't read any of them because my usage of WinMerge predates my usage of Opus and I've not seen any incompatibilities between them.
When it asks you, there are "Replace all" or "Skip all" or "Skip identical" options which you can use to apply that choice to all of the files. They are in the menus attached to the main Replace and Skip buttons in that window.
Or you might want the Update All command in the menu attached to the Copy Files command at the bottom-left of the default toolbars, if you want to automatically copy things from one side to the other if they are newer.
