DOpus 10.1.0.0
I can't get it to break that way in 10.1.0.0. I normally have that option turned ON for my format applied to all folders and layouts though, and the same file list sorts as expected... so not sure if you have a specific combination of circumstances that are affecting your results?
If you hover over the format lock icon in the bottom right of the default status bar, does the tooltip that reveals where your current display format is derived from offer any clues - such as if the current display format is being superseded by something particular that you're not aware is happening?
In any case, after you open a new lister then navigate to that directory with this file list, and go into folder options, is that option ALREADY enabled (based on some format you have defined)? Or are you enabling it, applying it, and then still seeing no change to the sorting?
Hmm. Format lock was enabled. After unlocking and refreshing folder nothing changed, but after restarting DOpus all works fine.
Anyway something strange with numeric order sorting. Format not locked, format is Default, but sometimes sorting was broken until opus window reopened.
Numeric sorting continue makes me crazy.
After restaring dopus all works correctly. But then (next day or less or more) sorting don't work again.
For fixing I need to close all dopus windows and reopen it with double-clicking to desktop. And sorting works fine again.
Please fix it.
We need to know a way to reproduce this in order to understand and fix or explain what's happening. We've never seen it happen on our own machines.
What kind of folder are you in? How do you navigate there or open the window/tab?
I can't define why it happens. I just open (sometimes by navigating in current tab, sometime by opening new tab) different folders with filenames where numbers in the beggining of the name.
I never open new opus window. Use always one window that never close, just minimize. Try to keep open window opened for day or two and work inside with tabs only. Maybe this will reproduce this bug.
When it happens, if you sort by another column and then sort by Name again, does the order correct itself?
It happens on opening folders with numbered files. If I re-click Name column sorting doesn't fixes.
Looking at your first screenshot, I don't think the folder format shown in the screenshot is being used at all in that folder, because the format has auto-sized columns turned on but the columns in the file display are wider than the filenames. (Unless the column was manually resized, or there was a file with a longer name that got deleted or renamed after entering the folder.)
In the second screenshot, I'm not sure if that's the right default format which is being edited. Hard to say without being able to see exactly which folder it is and which folder formats exist.
Have you gone through all the formats in Preferences / Folders / Folder Formats and made sure they have the numeric sort option turned on?
Also remember that layouts, folder tab groups, styles and the default lister can all contain formats that override things.
I tried to disable all folder formats and leave only Custom (it cannot be disabled). Anyway sorting fails.
While sorting broken I tried to reset to Defaults and Reset to Custom formats - again nothing happened.
On screenshot auto-sized columns, just file "89-93.pdf" makes it wider.
There's no 89-93.pdf in the first screenshot (1.txt, 10.txt, etc.)
Ah first. See the latest two screen.
In the latest screenshot, I'm not sure you are editing the format that is actually being used.
(In the first screenshot, the format doesn't look like it's the one being used either.)
I have only one active folder format for now its Custom.
To clarify, if you want to look at the format in use by the current file display, the only way is to open Folder Options, as in the first screenshot (but something's wrong there as the column widths don't look like they should if that was the format in use).
The latest screenshot shows editing a format via Preferences / Folders / Folder Formats, which adds a layer of complication to things (i.e. that isn't where the current format is coming from then it doesn't matter what settings it has).
I don't understand what I need to do.
I create new screenshots.
- My folder formats list
- Just opened Custom from there
- My folder with corrupted numeric sorting (format default and not all files visible there is scroller exist)
- Just opened folder options from this folder (see the Numeric sorting enabled here)
Oh, attaches need to be read from 4 to 1 positions corresponding to comments.
