# "open\_container\_in\_tabs" changed behaviour

Hi,
small question: this item, in "miscellaneous" menu, used to open a new tab, but now it won´t do this anymore (it reuses the tab now). Only when openeing via context menu ("open"), it will open a new tab. How can i get this to work as intended?

hmm, must add, it works ok with rars, but not with zips (even though rars & zips are in the "archive" filetype group, which i created. So maybe it didn´t really change, but i supposed that zip files are containers as well.
It´s not a big deal, zips not opening an extra tab, im only interested why it is different in this case. 🙂

The advanced option only affects collections, at least according to its description in preferences:
The 'Open Container' context menu item in collections opens a new tab.
The option seems to work okay here, even with zip files. If I turn it on, and then right-click a file-in-a-zip in a collection and select Open Container, the zip file opens in a new tab.

Hi Nudel,
i later found that "go newtab fromsel" in the "events" setting is also good, generally. But somehow i couldn´t get the same behaviour for arj or 7z files, to open at least externally, like they already do, when opened per "open" dialogue.

arj and 7z? Are you using the unfinished 7zip plugin?

Yeah, i tried, but doesn´t work (i also read that it doesn´t work, but tried it anyway).
What i meant, i can open both via rightklick "open", which will start the external apps. So far it does work ok, & i guess it´s not far from being able to open it via simple left click instead of right klick menu/open.

So it's now working okay for .zip files, but not the other types?
