Open tree folder in new tab - prevent tree from collapsing

Whilst being in a sub folder (right window panel) and expanding the tree on the left by shortly clicking on the [+] sign and then open another folder in a new tab (r-click the folder, open in new tab) and then go back to the first tab, the tree is collapsed again.

How to prevent that?

Do you have Preferences / Folder Tree / Options / Collapse non-selected branches turned on?

If so, turning on the Unless open in other tabs option below it may help.

Collapse non-selected branches indeed was the first thing I checked, but it was/is not turned on.
