Opening a folder containing a file, and having that specified file selected

I use JRiver Media Center to manage and play all of my media files (audio, image and video)
From that application, I have a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Alt+D) that opens the folder on disk where the currently selected file is stored. The folder opens with that file selected.

This has worked all the way through with DOpus 12.x

This weekend, I've moved up to v13.3 build 8823
Now, the folder opens, but everytime, it opens with the first file selected, not the file targetted by the shortcut from JRiver Media Center.

I turned off Explorer replacement mode in DOpus and can confirm that Windows file explorer opens with the target file correctly selected, as did DOpus 12.x

Hopefully this is a bug that will be corrected, because if not, it's a big enough issue to have me rolling back to DOpus 12. Is it a v13.3 bug?

Thanks for your time,
-Mark.

Is Preferences / File Displays / Options / Automatically select first file in folder unchecked?

How does the shortcut open the folder?

it was not, but then, it never has been, and this has always worked, for years. Unchecking the option results in the folder opening with nothing selected.

I don't know how it does it internally. With this line in their "Resource.xml" file,

<!-- Go to folder containing selected file and select it -->
<Entry Key="Ctrl;Alt;D" Command="26004" Param="-2" />

the keyboard combo is bound (not globally) to the 'Core Command' #26004, as shown here:
https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Media_Center_Core_Commands#List

As reported above, this works as expected with Windows Explorer today, and also with DOpus 12 on Friday

What's the path to the file you're trying to open?

From a quick test, it seems to be selecting the file OK if I put it under C:\Music, but not if it's under the Desktop.

I have an idea why that might be going wrong, but need to investigate in detail. Knowing more paths that go wrong may help understand it. (It's likely an issue with directories which have multiple virtual paths pointing to them.)

All of my media files reside in sub-directories of either "D:\Music", "D:\Pictures" or "D:\Video".

Music for example typically follows the template "D:\Music\Filetype\Artist\Album\track # - Name.filetype"

Note that I'm not trying to open the actual file. I'm asking the asset manager to open the containing folder, with the target file selected.

In Windows (10 Pro), I have changed the location of the user Music, Pictures and Video directories to D:\Music, D:\Pictures and D:\Video, respectively.

Thanks! That fits with my theory.

I tried 13.4 and this is still not working. The correct folder opens, always with the first file selected, not the target file.

I've rolled back to v12 for now as it's working as expected there. Is this likely to be fixed at some point in the near future?

Been working on it all week. Got it fixed on Win10 but still have an issue with Win11, so the fix isn’t ready yet.

A fix for this will be in 13.4.1 beta, which should be out in the next day or so.

Brilliant stuff Leo, thanks for the update. I'll confirm once it's released.
