I am a newbie here. I have tried the Directory Opus product because of a problem with Windows Explorer in Windows 7. Essentially what happens is that some folders and files within simpy vanish from the Explorer window. I am far from alone in this as there are people all over the forums with the same problem and assorted Microsoft apologists claiming "Oh you're doing this wrong" or You've probaly got a virus" but nobody seems able to acknowledge there is a problem with the software. BTW if you use the Dos box the files and folders are there for all to see but you're restricterd to the clunky Dos command set to try and move them or use them. I'm sure I'm not the first to try and bypass the issue by downloading Directory Opus but having now got it going, the situation is no better, - your product loses the same files!
You'll have to be more specific as files vanishing by thrmselves, visible one minute and gone the next, definitely is not normal.
What are the files that do this?
Where are they?
What kind of files?
What type of drive are they on? (Is it a non-Windows NAS device?)
What attributes do the files have?
Do they show up in DOS with a basic "dir", or do you need extra arguments to make them show up?
Does the status bar in Opus indicate anything is being hidden by your filters/Preferences? If so, click the hidden count on it to toggle Show Everything mode. Do the files appear then?
Are you potentially getting confused by localised names? That can cause folders to have a different name to what's really on disk, but they wouldn't be gone, just named differently. e.g. My Documents vs Documents. This is optional in Opus.
