Often when I turn on my computer and open Opus manually, it crashes silently: Opus lister window appears and immediately disappears, and Opus icon is gone from tray. There are no error messages of any kind presented to me either by Opus or by Windows. Subsequently Opus opens normally 90% of time.
There are no Dopus.dmp dump files in %temp%, and there is nothing in the Opus' script logs, nor in the Event Viewer so I don't know where to begin to troubleshoot it?
FWIW, I don't have any unusual Add-Ins I didn't had long before (only two very simple ones), and I don't use a third-party antivirus.
Opus version is Directory Opus Pro 12.6 Build 6369.
If it only happens just after booting the PC, it's probably something that depends on part of the system but is crashing when it isn't ready yet.
Try disabling all shell extensions using ShellExView.
Also try emptying the folder you're opening by default, in case the problem is triggered by one of the files in it (possibly in conjunction with something else).
Avoid anything that might be pointing to a network drive (be it a folder that opens by default, or something in the toolbars), to see if that is part of the problem.
(Now it seems it stopped happening, Dropbox has updated itself a few times in the meantime, who knows perhaps they messed up something with their shell extensions and whatnot.)
Yes built-in Windows Defender, I also keep its definitions updated via scheduled task (every 2 hours). Please feel free to comment if you have any thoughts/advice on Windows Defender and antivirus software in general
