Paste from vmware virtual machine

Hi,
I have DO installed on windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.
To use effectively the windows xp mode from microsoft, I have installed vmware workstation 7.01 and loaded the virtual disk of windows xp Sp3 from microsoft page inside it.

All works well but the copy from the vm to the real windows 64 inside DO.

When i do ctrl-c on a file from the VM and the a ctrl-v inside a DO lister I got and error

(translated from the italian)

There was an error during copy.
Cant find the specified file (2).

and then 4 buttons to make a choice

Retry Skip Skip All Cancel

When i do ctrl-v inside windows 7 explorer the copy file works perfectly.

When i do the reverse operation (ctrl-c from DO lister ctrl-v inside the vm) all works fine.

Maybe there is some parameter to set inside DO ?

No, unfortunately it's something weird that VMware do with their clipboard operation - they seem to have written it to exclusively work with Explorer. I've not been able to find a solution. You could try reporting it to VMware as a bug?

Alternatively, drag & drop works ok.

:frowning:... though not with VMware Server apparently... Bummer.

I don't know if VMware Server is differnet but on VMware workstation the drag & drop support requires the VMware Tools be installed.

No doubt about that - gotta have VMtools, otherwise trying to move the mouse outside of the VM window just plans jams the mouse at the VM window edge - even if you're not trying to "drag" anything.

Dunno... I've always installed the tools (v1.0.5 and v2.0.2 of VMware Server) and it's never worked. Seems to be something by design on "Server" editions of VMware as opposed to workstation :frowning:...

== "not an Opus issue"... just a bummer...
