I am using the latest Dopus version (9.1.0.3) and have the latest Adobe reader installed on my PC. For some strange reason only some of the pdf files I've got show up in the viewer pane. I am using the ActiveX plugin v3.1.0.0 for this.
For those pdf files which do not show up correctly all I see is a load of text in the viewer pane and right-clicking in the viewer pane under “User plugin” the “Default” one is selected rather than the Active X one. If I manually select the Active X plugin to be used the pdf shows up correctly – this however only lasts until I de- and re-select the file again. As said the strange thing is that this does not happen to all my pdf files but most of them…
Does it consistently happen with the same files, or does it randomly fail or work regardless of which files you try?
->it's always the same files that work/don't work
Do the files that don't work have a .PDF extension?
->they all have the .pdf extension
Does it open in Adobe Reader and/or Internet Explorer on your machine?
If you copy the file to your desktop and rename it to "test.pdf" does it still fail to open in Opus? (Maybe the problem is file permissions or the length of the path.)
Actually I found out by disabling the "Text Viewer Plugin" v 4.0.0.8 the pdf files show correctly in the viewer pane but then of course it won't display any text file...
Is the Text plugin aboe the ActiveX plugin in your list? That would explain the problem.
By default I don't think the Text plugin can go above the ActiveX plugin, but if you disable the Hex Viewer part of the Text plugin then it's possible... I think I'll talk to GPSoftware to see if it makes sense to always force the Text plugin to the bottom of the list, whether or not the Hex Viewer part of it is enabled.
The text viewer was indeed above the Active X one but I was unable to move the text viewer below the Active X - I wasn't aware this only works when disabling the Hex viewer option!!!
Thank u very much for your help - this solved the problem.
Sasa, sounds like Shell Icon Extraction is turned off in Opus. Turn it on and you will see thumbnails in Opus for anything that Explorer shows them for, as well as the extra things that Opus & its plugins can do themselves.
This change has been made and should be part of the next release (9.1.0.4), so the problem should not trip anyone up in the future if they turn off the hex viewer. mrathmann, thanks for mentioning the issue so that it could be fixed for other people.
