I created a button which opens the picture-toolbar if necessary. Unfortunately the bar always opens above the lister. I'd like to have it above the status bar at the bottom.
It would be great if DO would remember toolbar positions after they were closed.
You can already solve this by specifying the toolbar's placement in your command. See the example given here:

But remembering automatic would be easier

Using the LINE argument. It's all in the manual where the Toolbar command is described.
