Possible to show Current Folder's View Setting?

I was just customizing a few of the view settings:
1.) Documents
2.) Images
3.) Music
4.) User default

I turned off auto-detection of content type because it's not that big of a deal for me to assign a view setting based on folder location. I tend to use the same locations a lot.

I found it odd when I opened a new folder today and found that it was not using either User default or documents. I checked to make sure that it was not assigned a path-specific folder view and it was not.

So what I was wondering is could I create a custom button/field that would go on the toolbar that would display what view type is currently being used? (simillar to "style inspector" in Microsoft Word).

Also I'm wondering why this folder would not have displayed using my "User default" format.

Here's a screenshot of my list of folder views

Hover your mouse pointer over the padlock icon in the status bar and it will tell you where the current format came from.

Excellent thank you! Would it be possible for me to display this info on a toolbar?

No. It wouldn't really fit even if you could, as it's often multiple lines.

I just changed my "Search Results" collection default folder view and did a search. After completing the search it didn't display in the way I expected, so I hovered over the padlock and this is what is says "Edited by user". What does this mean? Which folder display is being enacted for the search result collection?

Did you open a new window to do the search? That's one of the points in the folder formats FAQ. Avoid using an existing window if you want to test how a new saved format works, as the old window may be remembering temporary changes you made on the way.

Restarting Opus presents search collection as expected. Thank you much-
