Problem opening Office 2013 files

Directory Opus double-click will not successfully open Office 2013 documents says 'Microsoft Word has stopped working' after it opens but if I make a shortcut on the desktop to the file it works OK. If I use PowerDesk or File Explorer to open it works OK. Thank you.

Peter

What happens in Explorer?

What is the "Open" command in file types in Opus?

I have:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\Root\Office15\WINWORD.EXE" /n "%1" /o "%u"

Works fine.

The Word file opens normally in File Explorer. I'm afraid I don't understand 'What is the "Open" command in file types in Opus? I have attached file showing what happens when I try to open a Word File with a DOPUS double-click.

In the "Settings" "File types..." you will arrive at this:

That entry is down in the depths of the "System File Types" section. If you hit "Edit" you will see various "Actions" and the things they do.

Yours may be upscrewed for some reason.

Please try what I suggested in your earlier thread on the same subject, here:

(To do that, you'll want to go to the same window described in Michael's post above, but then change from the Actions tab to the Events tab. Double-click the Left Double-Click event to edit it. If you're stuck, shout and I'll make a video showing the steps.)

Thank you both for your help. Maybe it is late or I am old but I cannot see how to get to settings (Is it in Windows 8.1 or within Dopus) and what to do when I get there. A video would be wonderful if you can be bothered with an old fart. Regards,

Peter

The Settings menu at the top of the Opus window.

Here's a quick video showing where to click. (Not the clearest video, made in a bit of a hurry, but hopefully fills in the missing details.)

Sorry for delay in replying but have been assembling IKEA furniture for my granddaughter, never again. Eventually I deleted DOPUS and re-installed, works perfectly now. Are there video tutorials for the programme? Thank you, Peter

Click Opus Videos in my signature and there are some videos there. Mostly about new features added in v10.x releases, but you can learn lots of things from them.

There are a couple of others in the Tutorials section, although the video ones there are very old now.

We'd like to make some more videos in the future, but it's always a choice between working on the program itself and working on the videos, so it's hard to find the time sometimes.
