Protected WMA track numbers are +1?

Hi,

I am an evaluation user but cannot submit a bug/issue to Opus via the email page (says expired, but I registered 16 days ago?), so I thought I'd post it here.

When displaying 'protected' WMA music files (e.g. Napster tracks) in Opus 9 (9.1.0.6.3044.x86, Windows XP SP2) the track number is incremented by 1. So the first track is 2, the second 3, and so on. For unprotected music files the display is OK.
It occurs in the Lister and the Info Tip.
Could this be fixed please?

Cheers,
Peter.

What are you basing this on? Does the track number show correctly in other programs?

E.g. what does the Properties dialog show?

Hi,

Napster and Windows Media Player display the track numbers correctly (start at 1, ... up to the last track of the album). Also, just checked Windows Explorer, and that displays correct track number.

In Opus Lister and Info Tip the track numbers are +1 (start at 2, ... up to the last track of the album). Interestingly I checked the Properties Dialog in Opus as you suggested, and the track numbers are correct?
Although this looks like the standard Windows XP Explorer Properties Dialog to me?

In Opus, I sort my display by track number for (File Type Group) Music files.

This only affects protected WMA tracks I download from Napster; but since I have a lot of these and I am syncing to other folders it's a nuisance.

Cheers,
Peter.

Could you post one of these files (a small one if possible) here for us to try with?

Hmmm, which track to choose?!

I guess it will not play anyway without a valid Napster subscription.

Attached is a track called Coming Clean on the album Dookie by Green Day.
It is track 11 on the album, but displays 12 in Opus.

I had to rename the track as the Forum said wma extension is not allowed? Just rename it back.

Cheers,
Peter.

Thanks! I've downloaded the attachment & deleted it. I'll send it to Jon.

I can confirm the issue, too. dBpoweramp shows the Track tag as 11 but Opus shows it as 12.

displayed as track 12 for me...

This turned out to be Napster incorrectly tagging the files but a workaround should be included in the next Opus release.

WMA tags can indicate the track number in two different ways. Napster's files have both types of track number tags and one of them is +1 from what it should be. (The tag is documented as zero-based; Napster are writing it as if it was one-based.) Opus happens to look for that tag first while most other programs seem to look for the other tag first.
