Question about opening a lister in dual mode

Windows 7-32 bit

In dual display mode with dual trees, I have drive icons on both sides (over each lister). I would like to be able to click a drive icon, say, over the right display and have it open the right display list without having to click the right pane first. Same concept for the left display. Hope this makes sense. Maybe I've overlooked the obvious.
