I'm new in this forum, and I have some questions about Rename window:
I have managed to set "Find and Replace" preset as default, but I didn't find a way to set "Include file extension" option marked as default. Is it possible?
When I use "Find and Replace" preset, the cursor is automatically positioned on the replace field, which I think is wrong, since I obviously have to type the find pattern first.
For me, the biggest flaw of Directory Opus is the impossibility to do more than one interactive rename operation without close the Rename window, which severely impacts productivity.
Searching in the forum, I have found many people complaining about this same issue, so I would like to know if there is some way to circumvent this problem, or even better, if the developers have some plans to finally fix it.
Save a rename preset with the Find and Replace fields both blank, Type set to "Find and Replace", and the "Include file extension checkbox" turned on. Then specify that in the command that opens the Rename dialog, rather than PRESET="findrep".
The dialog always puts the cursor on that field when it opens. (We may change this in the future.) Shift-Tab is a quick way to jump to the previous one.
The only current way to do multiple renames from a single use of the dialog is to use a rename script (since scripts can do as many things as them want to the filename before passing it back). We may enhance this in the future, but don't tend to promise things until they are ready or close to ready for release, so I can't say much more now.
Addition for 3) As long as @nodeselect is still included in the button that opens the dialog, you should be able to click Rename again to continue renaming the same files as many times as you need to.
Leo, many thanks for the quick response, you're a very attentive guy.
As for the number 3, I already using @nodeselect, but even this way, the steps necessary to close and reopen the window multiple times are kinda bothersome, and I think you agree with me on that one.
Please don't get me wrong, I don't want to look smug in my first post in the forum, but I'm a programmer too, so I believe maybe isn't necessary much changes in the Rename code to put an Apply button or a check-box on the dialog to fix that issue once and for all, since there are quite a number of users making this same request from some time.
Again, I apologize if I seem arrogant, thank you a lot for the attention, and congratulations for this wonderful software.
As for number 3: I was really hoping that this would be 'solved' in Opus 12.
Definitely no offense meant...
but curious to know whether there is a specific reason for having to re-open the rename dialog each time
rather than to keep it open for the next rename and having a Close-button if there is no next rename.
