If I'm in a (sub)directory of a hard drive and then I switch to another hard drive and then back to the previous one, I want to be at the same location where I was before.
Can I set this somewhere?

If you return to the folder via the tab’s Back button, it should remember your scroll position.
You could also avoid leaving the folder entirely by opening the other folder(s) in a new tab.

No, clicking that button loads the folder fresh and will always put you at the top of it.
