Rename corrupting images to jpg9020?

when renaming jpg files some files are having the extension"jpg9020" added and I have no idea why.

  1. Cannot change the extension back to "jpg".
  2. Cannot view in any of image viewer including photoshop, Irfanview, DOPS, etc.
  3. Cannot rename the file.

If you refresh the folder (F5) is the file still there?

Was the extension actually added while renaming, and not while using the Image Converter?

these are temp files and are showing due to lag from a NAS

I had a problem like this for awhile, and for some reason I no longer recall, suspected the Creation software field in the metadata. Deleting the entry in that field for any image that had this problem seemed to solve it.

If you've got any images that still trigger the issue, and the temp files don't go away after an F5 refresh, please zip them and send them to us with info on what to do to reproduce it.

(If you haven't seen it in a while, it might be an issue that was fixed, as there have been one or two in this area over the months/years.)

Yeah, it's been awhile since I ran across a file that had the problem.
