Rename files on desktop

When I enter rename mode (F2 or dbl click) with a file on the desktop, DirOPus will select the full name, including the file extension. If I copy that same file to any other folder DirOpus will correctly only select the filename stem. Why is the behavior different on the desktop?

DirOpus 9.1.1.0.3156x86.
Win XP Pro SP3

The desktop and other namespace folders are handled by explorer, not Opus. You can use "/desktopdir" in the path field to take you to the real path for the desktop folder and then Opus takes over.
