I've just noticed something that I hadn't ever seen before...
Perhaps I was just ignorant of it or maybe it's been added in a recent update??
Anyway, when I try and paste into a filename to rename a file, DOpus seems to be trimming or stripping out any leading or trailing spaces. This is incredibly annoying since I deliberately copied the text WITH the spaces and now I have to go add it in again manually!
I've searched for an option to turn this off but can't find it anywhere. Hope the community can help!
Yeah, I've meant to file this as either a bug or enhancement request... the same thing happens when you paste into some of the dialogs - like the {dlgstring} field. I agree it's annoying if you've purposely copied text with spaces to your clipboard.
I logged this at the GP Soft support site too and I received the response below. I hope they do add an option to turn this on/off as I find myself pasting a lot of "parts" of names and, like "steje" above, if I copy a space, I do it intentionally.
Furthermore, if I'm renaming a bunch of files, I always do a bulk rename check, replacing any double spaces with singles.
I don't mind the idea of checking and/or trimming leading and trailing spaces from filenames (in fact, I think it's a very good idea, but that's a separate problem and, again, I think that should be an option.
Yes this is by design. We have found in the past that many people accidentally include spaces when pasting into the edit field and then get confused because their file or folder has a hidden space at the beginning or end of the filename.
Note however the spaces are only stripped at the actual beginning or end of the name - they should not be stripped in any other case.
It would be relatively easy to add an option to disable this in a future version so I will add this to the request list.

Is there a reason for this "feature" to exist for more than... 10 years without the ability to disable it?
A couple of years later, I believe it is still the same, or am I doing something wrong....
Trailing spaces are removed. Usually when copy pasting.
For instance copy-paste: "Word - " will become "Word -" (without quotes)
Has this relatively easy option been added? I also have this issue, especially when renaming a few files where I'd like to paste NameWith1Space@End and just add a number without the extra complexities of alternative batch renaming solutions
It's easier to press space since you don't need to backtrack with the cursor. Besides, if you insert text first, you get aligned names so it's easier to spot a typo while typing and slightly easier to insert a +1 number "without thinking"
