Reset File-association

I have XnViewMP v0.64 (x64) installed.
Have done all to get .jpg files associated to XnViewMP.

The usual way: Properties->Open with->change from Windows Photo Viewer into XnViewMP - OK
However, each time it 'returns/switches back'' to Windows Photo Viewer: i.e. the association to XnViewMP, being one of the list applications, doesn't stick.

XnViewMP has an internal tool (Associate files with XnViewMP).
When I run that, jpg is listed to be associated to XnViewMP alright,

but nonethelessy still Opus photo viewer is being launched.

For png it is okay

Any suggestions?

Thanks

This is probably what you need:

How to stop the Opus image viewer from being used by default

Ah!
Thanks a lot.
Honestly speaking, did not expect it there.
I was looking into the 'Preferences->Viewer' section.

That said, before I was using another version of XnView, viz. XnView std.
If my memory serves me well, doubleclicking a jpg file would bring up XnView.
Then I changed to XnViewMP - a more advanced version with more features bla bla, but somewhere the fileassociation got lost.

Now I wonder, does Opus indeed keep 'a steel grip' on this fileassocation, meaning to say I can try to re-associate as many times as I want, but the only solution is this doubleclick thing?

Opus doesn't change the file aasociation, it just overrides what happens when you double-click files in Opus, if that option is on.
