Running thumbnailers out of process

Hi,

First of all, I have to say that I recently moved back to Windows after many years of using Linux (GNOME), and was looking for a better replacement for Explorer. After trying out a few alternatives, DOpus is in a league of its own  .

One issue I have encountered recently is sporadic crashing due to one of my thumbnailers -- either the PDF one or the videos one. I was wondering if it's possible to move the thumbnail generation to a separate process, such that it wouldn't crash the main process and could be easily restarted?

Thanks!

It's on our long-term list but far from trivial.

A crashing thumbnailer would still cause problems, too, even if they were reduced by being moved out of process, so it's best to raise the issue with whoever makes the PDF software that's crashing in the hope they can fix the real problem. (Or to switch PDF software if they can't fix it. A thumbnailer should not crash, and can do things out of process itself if it's doing something inherently unstable.)
