# Save column widths every time

Hi,
How do I save the Column Widths of Folders I view every time I change them? It keeps going back to to the default width.
I know there is a way to save them specifically by Right-Clicking and Saving the Format. But I want the format of the folder view to be saved every time.
Thank you. I am enjoying Directory Opus very much.

There's no way to make Opus automatically save changes to formats. Changes are always temporary until explicitly saved.
(Except that if you turn on the option to update the Default Lister when you close a window, the temporary format will be saved into the Default Lister then. But that temporary format will still be lost when you navigate to a folder which causes the format to change.)

That's a pity. I guess there is one thing that Windows File Explorer has that DOpus does not.

At least in Vista and Windows 7, Explorer seems to randomly save/load formats judging by all the complaints. 🙂
I prefer being in control, even if changes have to be saved manually.
Not that the option of auto-saving formats is necessarily a bad idea. If you want it [request it](http://www.gpsoft.com.au/Support.html) so that GPSoft know.
