Search for subs that don't contain a file

Is this possible?

I need to search a directory with a large number of subdirectories for those subdirectories missing a certain file. Is there any way to run a search that will tell me which subdirectories do not have *.lrf?

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you want however as a quick test this seems to at least resemble what you described.

Browse to the directory then turn on Flat View > Grouped.

In keyboard search mode (Lister Search via Keyboard) you should be able to use Filter mode (*) to hide all files that don't match the desired pattern.

So typing *.lrf with the full grouped preview will filter out all files that aren't .lrf, but leave behind the folders. Then you just have to take note of which folders are empty.

I tried the grouped flat view filtered to only show *.lrf. But, running the Getsizes command still shows the real size of the folders, not empty as you suggested. You said it worked for you so I am probably doing some part of it wrong.

Out of curiosity, do any of those other folders (that still show size but don't list any files in them) have .lrf files?

They could quite possibly have .txt, .rtf, .doc, .pdf or .lit (or other text-type files)... basing that on the Ebooks title.

By empty I simply meant folders that didn't have .lrf, which all those folders would be.

Yes, they all have other files in them. I'm trying to find those that don't have *.lrf, even though they might have other files.

Well then you've found them in that screenshot.

Every other one of those folders doesn't include a .lrf file. The filter only shows folders, and files with the desired filter, in this case .lrf
