If I try and find an extension type that I know is inside a zip file(s) I'm getting zero results but if previously I've looked inside the file with Opus then it finds it ie it's finding it via a temp in memory.
I've checked the Find window, it's set for files and folders, none of the ignores are set to anything. Clear previous results, search inside sub folders and archives are ticked.
I have made sure it's not looking for text inside..
I've tried .bas and *.bas to check for inside the zip files and I get zero results. I'm 100% sure this worked as stated before?
I did a bit of research and found that Windows 7 search also would not look inside zips / compressed folders unless you set it up in the folder and search options. When I did that Windows search worked but Opus was still the same and ignoring the contents of zip files unless you had previously used opus to look inside them but if you ran crap cleaner then you were back to it seeing nothing so I suppose it was getting a temp file.
Now this is weird, I thought I'd try going via the Advanced find, I chose 'contains' and 'match' to .bas and off it went and found every zip file that contained a .bas. I had hoped for it to show inside the zip but the fact it found what I wanted was fine.
I have no idea why the other way does not work for me, I certainly remember it working before I used Windows 7 X64 and I also find it odd that if I have used Opus to look inside a selection of files previously and then do a normal search it will find those files I viewed but none others?
That's just because the names of the files within an archive have to be stored within the archive file as well. They're usually stored as plain-text (though some formats may encrypt them sometimes).
Only thing I can think to suggest is to reinstall Opus over the top of itself. (Do not uninstall it first, unless you backup your configuration. Uninstalling deletes the config.) Reinstalling over the top will ensure all the components are re-registered. Every so often people seem to run into a problem on 64-bit machines where the zip components are not properly registered, so maybe this is a case of that; it just seems odd that you can see inside of zip files but not search the files within them.
Thanks I'll give it shot although since posting I have freshly done a new install of the machine (I like to slim line the machine from time to time and clear out the useless files) and it did the same on the machine before and after installs but it's the best hope I have and thanks for that..
BTW, I don't think you've posted one of the zips yet, in case it's something special about the zip files themselves. Post one if you want us to check that we can search within them on our machines.
