I didn't think I should clutter up Help & Support with this, but I often wonder if the Search field in the upper right corner does anything except confuse people and/or cause them to not find Tools -> Find Files.

It does. We have some ideas there for a future version.
It’s also part of a lesson about using Microsoft’s APis and features, which always seem to decay rapidly as their whims change like the wind, never get properly documented, and always end up having special modes that File Explorer etc. uses but no one else can discover without reverse engineering. We’re better off just doing things ourselves.
