In the dual display mode is it possible to select a folder in one lister (without entering the folder) and have the folder contents displayed in the other lister?
If you hold the CTRL key when double-clicking a folder, it will open in the other lister of a dual-pane lister.
It still be the same lister.
I am using CTRL+SHIFT+F shortcut for "Go {f} NEW" and it works the way reck want (opens separate lister).
He refers to "dual display mode", by which I think he means one lister in dual pane mode. CTRL+double-click on a folder will open that folder in the other pane.
By the way, I believe SHIFT-double-click is configured by default to do what your CTRL+SHIFT+F does.
You're right.
You could set middle double-click to open folders in the other side of a dual display (Settings > File Types > All Folders, see screenshot below), then turn on Preferences / File Displays / Mouse / Single middle click to trigger middle double-click events on background and files so you don't have to double-click.
Thanks for the suggestions. Is there anyway to view the contents of the folder on the other pane just by highlighting the folder?
I have a series a folders and I just want to press the down arrow on the keyboard to move down the folders and as each one is highlighted the contents are displayed on the other pane.
This is one lister in dual display mode.

Using down arrow, could only do that by using the folder tree.
You could root the tree to the parent folder to remove all the other clutter from the tree, if that's the reason you want to use the file display instead of the tree.
OK thanks Leo. I've not used the folder tree for years but i'll take a look as that sounds like the way to go.
