I often use the directory-history to continue my work from the day before.
When getting to the parent directory, I'm located at the top.
In this case it would be better, if the selector would be located at the
directory last visited.
( Just like it would be, when I entered the directory without using
history.)
Preferences / Folders / Folder Display / Highlight previous folder on Up/Back for can help see where you came from, and works whether you go Up or Back.
Preferences / Folders / Folder Behavior / Select previous folder when going Up will actually select the folder you came from, but only works when going Up, not Back. When going Back instead, the previous selection is remembered, which overrides this.
(If you go up to the parent instead of using the history, then you don't have to worry about that.)
