Serious mouse problem [not] in DOpus

yesterday i started having a mouse problem in DOpus. my double clicks are interpreted as ALT-double click. this makes all folders open in new tabs, and files are opening with whatever alternate apps i have set up. when this happens i also lose the ability to right-click on files and on the browser pane background, though i can still right-click on toolbars and everything else.

restarting DOpus doesn't clear the problem, i need to restart my computer.

i have not found a trigger, so i cannot reliably reproduce the problem. it's not my mouse, as it happens with both a USB mouse and my touchpad as well. and it's not a stuck ALT key as i first suspected, as no other programs exhibit any strange behaviour.

any ideas??

It sure sounds like a stuck ALT key to me - maybe try with a different keyboard to definitely rule out this possibility.

it's a laptop, i don't have another one...

it can't be a stuck ALT key though. if i hit ALT, the menu bar gets activated. if i click a button, it works fine (if ALT were stuck it would enter Customize mode). and all my ALT hotkeys work fine...

i've discovered that i can hit ENTER on a file/folder and it executes as expected. i can also right-click to drag and drop files/folders and i get the proper drop context menu, i just don't get regular context menus for files, folders, or the browser pane background.

well i'll just try reinstalling it when i get home. hopefully that solves it, since i'm not having issues with any other app...

Are you sure you haven't just changed to Power mode or something by mistake, where the mouse buttons do different things?

Some mouse drivers (e.g. Logitech's SetPoint) let you assign application-specific button settings. That's the only other thing I can think of.

If you reinstall remember to backup your settings first.

well i'm back home and having a look around DOpus, and everything is working fine at the moment. the problem didn't start right away yesterday, it kicked in after DOpus was open for a while. i'll pay close attention to what i do, so if it happens again, i can get an idea of what's triggering it.

i hate it when these mysterious events occur :frowning:

well, problem solved...

it happened again, and this time, i noticed it in Firefox too. i would click on the address bar, but the cursor wouldn't go there. so i killed my mouse button app, and everything worked again. i have no idea how it got corrupted since the configuration hadn't changed, but i re-installed it and it seems to be working fine again.

well spotted, leo
