SetAttr Description Question

I am setting up a button (haven't started learning about hot keys yet) to allow me to easily add description to a group of files. I've gotten to the point where I have the Description box popping up, but I'd like the "Apply to all files" option to default to checked as I forget to do that about 85% of the time. Is there a way to make that the default for my button?

Just had a quick look - there's no way to change the default button but you could use:

SetAttr DESCRIPTION RECURSE

which will allow you to select a folder and have all the files within it given the description you've typed.

Maybe this button is useful. Maybe not.

It asks you for a string and then sets the description to what you entered for all selected items, as well as everything below any selected directories.

SetAttr RECURSE DESCRIPTION {Rs|Enter Description} FILE {F}

Thanks Nudel, that comes very close. It seems to have a problem with any description with spaces, but I'll play with it to see what I can do.

Still being amazed by this product.

Put quotes around the {Rs|...} stuff to solve problems with spaces.

It'll still go wrong if there are quotes in the string, though. :slight_smile:
