is there a way to create a shortcut that goes to a collection?
There are probably more ways, but one easy way that seems to work is:
[ul][li]Select the collection and push Ctrl-C[/li]
[li]Go somewhere else and right-click the background empty space of the directory[/li]
[li]Select Paste Shortcut.[/li][/ul]
good enough for me.
...scratch that. now i am getting "the system cannot find the file specified" errors when i try to open the shortcut. it worked once, but then i rearranged the directory structure and that broke the link. so i researched and remade the collection and then recreated a shortcut, but it is still not working! argh.
apparently collections cannot be linked to using shortcuts when they have a space in the name. aaargh took me a while to figure this one out!
Shortcut don't work for me too...
alert : Incorrect parameter
another thing...
- if i create shortcut by right clinkin "create shortcut" on collection, shortcut are created in desktop.
and when i click on desktop shortcut created, alert appear -> Message: impossible d'ouvrir ce raccourci internet. le protocole coll ne comporte aucun programme enregistré. (impossible to open this internet shorcut. protocol coll don't have any saved program) - if i copy collection, and want to paste link in virtual folder (desktop for eg), files are copy not a shortcut...
I've reported the problem with spaces in collection names and shortcuts.
Here's a workaround:
Enter Customize mode and create a new button. Make it run a command such as this:Go "coll://Find Results"
(Replace Find Results with your own collection name, of course.)
While still in Customize mode you can drag this button to your desktop to create a .dcf file that acts like a shortcut to the collection.
(If you want it to open a new window or new tab, add the NEW or NEWTAB arguments to the Go command.)
Thanks...
notice that i need to assign dcf file to dopusrt.exe because i use DO in usb.
when i drop collection in toolbar in customize mode to create button, i have an error when i click it. Function is coll://xxx, why it's not go "coll://xxx" like a folder ?
Some folders (at least) have the same result. It works fine, at least on the toolbar. You only need to add the Go when you drag the toolbar button to a .dcf file, for some reason, although the Go is probably a good idea in all cases.
running off of a usb drive, i get permissions errors when i try to link to a collection (the 'copy, paste shortcut' method). trying to use the dfc file as a shortcut, double-clicking just opens it in notepad.
Do you have permission to create the files in the target folder?
Of course, since making double-clicks on .dcf files do something outside of Opus requires .dcf filetype be created, and creating a filetype requires changes to the registry, which USB mode avoids.
