Show Desktop / Windows Alert Sound

Hi GP Software,

I small Bug I've found in Directory Opus is when you click "Show Desktop" with Windows Explorer (i.e. next to the Clock on Windows 7 Taskbar, or Double-Clicking on "Shows Desktop" in %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch) and the click on Directory Open on the Taskbar - the first click Windows plays the alert sound and Directory Opus Lister is not opened, however the second click Windows doesn't play the alert sound and Directory Opus Lister is opened.

All other Applications I have tried on my computer after I have clicked Show Desktop do not play the Windows Alert Sound whenever I try and and open them from the Taskbar and open with 1 click.

Playing around with Directory Opus to try and find the root of this problem I found that if you did the follow the issue went away:

  1. "Settings" Drop-down Menu => Preferences => Explorer Replacement => Select "Don't replace Explorer" => Press "OK" Button.

However I want to use Directory Opus as my Lister, and if I select "Replace Explorer for all file system folders (recommended)", "Replace Explorer for all folders", or "Replace Explorer for all but the following folders" I get the alert, and double click issued above.

Another interesting thing is if I go to %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\ and double-click on "Shows Desktop" from within Windows Explorer I get the Windows Alert Sound and need to click on the Directory Opus Icon twice in the Windows Taskbar to open Directory Opus. However if I go to %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\ and double-click on "Shows Desktop" from within Directory Opus I don't get the Windows Alert Sound and need to click on the Directory Opus Icon once in the Windows Taskbar to open Directory Opus.

I've been using Directory Opus for years and I've only seen this bug in the last month. So I don't know if the issue is the later versions of Directory Opus, or some new applications I have on my computer.

Thanks, Mark.

Thanks for the report. I can confirm what you see.

Out of interest, are you using the beta versions of Opus? I have a hunch that the problem is tied to something we changed recently in the betas, but I haven't tried with an older version yet. Will look at it properly after the weekend.

Thanks for the quick reply Leo. Yes I use the latest Directory Opus Betas - this issue was present on 10.0.3.3 & 10.0.3.4. I just rolled back to 10.0.3.0 and the issue went away. So the issue was introduced sometime between 10.0.3.0 & 10.0.3.3.

Thanks.

I have this same issue, very annoying, hope you can fix it soon

We've looked at this now and it will be fixed in the next update. It will only have affected the 10.0.3.1-4 beta versions.

Thanks Leo

Awesome! Much appreciated !
