Simple find results totals

#1

Hi Team.

Thanks for a great program.

I have been using XYplorer for a long time and have switched to Opus.
I would like to get help with a small error in the results when I use the Simple find.

When I do a search with "all files and folders" with a size filter set "kb".
The results show 3 files and 0 folders. (This should show 3 files and 144 folders.)

When I do a search with "folders" with a size filter set "kb".
The results show 0 files and 144 folders.

When I do a search with "files" with a size filter set "kb".
The results show 3 files and 0 folders.

See the screenshot from the find.

Thanks for your help with this.

Calculating folder sizes is fairly expensive when doing a find, so Opus only does that if you explicitly tell it you are looking for folders and size at once.

Otherwise, folders will be considered to have 0 size, to avoid wasting time calculating their sizes when it typically is not wanted.

To find files or folders above a maximum size, you would need to use the Advanced tab and a filter.

The logic is discussed a bit more under Filter Clause Types:

Thanks for your reply.

I have tested the advanced find and I get the same result as the simple find.
It finds the files only.

See the screenshot from the advanced find.

I have already read most of the help file and have used filters before.

Thanks.

A and B or X and Y is ambiguous and doesn't mean what was intended.

It needs to be grouped, like this:

(A and B) or (X and Y)

That can be simplified further. Matching Size normally implies only files are to be matched, so we can get rid of the first Type=Files clause:

Thanks very much for your help with this.
That worked great and I have learnt a lot more about Opus workings.
