Size of Copy Buffer size for USB2?

From time to time it's mentioned on this forum that USB2 external HDs are very sensitive to the value of Copy Buffer.

I'm planning to have two external USB2 HDs, so can somebody explain the meaning of this number in DOpus (ie, will it slow something else down if I enter a big number there, why the 64 kb to start with etc)? Currently I have it set from default 64 kb to 256 kb and I can't say for sure but it looks a bit faster.

The explanation in help doesn't mean anything to me and threads like the one reporting FTP weirdness just result in more questions...

The best value depends on your hardware (and maybe drivers). If things are working okay then I wouldn't mess with them, but if not then experiment to find what works best. There's no absolute right answer that works best for everything.

ok thanks, I just tested it with 64 and it works (looks a bit slow though). I'll just leave it as is, don't really feel like poking anyway.
