Is there a way to slow down the polling of changed files? When I do a large file operation, DOpus becomes unresponsive until all the changes are made. If the refresh was slower, I could select a different folder and the changes would happen in the "background".
Hmm. You could try turning on the Generic Icons option (Settings -> Preferences / Folders / Options: Display generic icons for...) but I don't know how much that will help.
Another thing which can cause some types of files to be opened is having media play-time information displayed in the status bar. (Any of the {...mp3} codes, which affect video as well as music.)
How many files are we talking about? I've only seem things get unresponsive in really extreme cases, like folders with 100,000 files in them.
(Opus should already only process changes to the folder in batches every couple of seconds. I don't think there's a way to change the frequency.)
If you've got a real-time anti-virus scanner (etc.) running then there may be a connection with it. Try temporarily disabling it to see if that helps or to rule it out so we don't have to think about it anymore.
what happens if I move a bunch of folders from one drive to another for example, the moving goes smoothly but then the pane slowly jerks its way to catch up. So, the folders have physically moved but the display is slowly, jerkily catching up... and while that is happening I cannot do anything (unless I am lucky enough to get a quick change of folders in the middle of the process)
No virus scanners.
No media players or files.
I tried generic icons, didn't seem to change anything.
I try but if I don't get in quick enough I'm stuck... I guess I'll have to cut and paste instead of drag and drop... not nearly as handy for me, but it will work!
I have been using DO nonstop for hours and now when I try and do anything I get the attached error message... strange?
and right before it did that, I had a strange file update issue, without changing ANYTHING since turning off the attr column all of the sudden the last few moved files didn't update... as in they staying in the viewer until I did a manual F5 refresh
Sometimes I wish I had a different hobby like collecting stamps or something else with less complications
