I have a library that I want to sort other than alphabetically. If I do a manual sort, it will revert back shortly. I have it set to remember when possible. Is it normal for Dopus not to be able to remember a manual sort of a library? Or perhaps a setting is interfering?
The underlying volume is keeping the manual sort, but the library attached to it forgets.
EDIT: I just resorted a subfolder on the volume, because it forgot. I also had to check the manual sort box in the settings for that folder again.
I just checked my E: drive, and saw that the option to turn on manual sorting was off, even though I had turned it on the other day. It remembers how I sorted it when I turned the option back on.
I have also discovered that if I turn off alphabetical sorting and/or manual sorting to a folder, then save it while using the save to sub-folders option, the sub-folders don't reflect the change.
Manual sorting seems ok in libraries here, from a quick test.
Manual sort order is saved per-folder and doesn't apply to sub-folders (since the sort order wouldn't make sense for other than the folder it was configured for).
If you have a reproducible set of steps that causes it to lose its sort order in libraries, we can investigate further.
All I can say is that if I turn manual sort on, then proceed to manually sort the folder, it will forget the sort order within minutes to a few days. I have a subfolder in the Pictures library set for it, along with two more within this folder, which was done a couple of days ago. Manual sort is still turned on for all three, and have been manually sorted, but two of the sort orders have been forgotten, and the third one will soon. I have saved the settings for all three folders, so that's not a issue.
Point taken about subfolders not inheriting manual sort from their parents upon a save.
Is the issue that this is a library? I do see that with some types of folders, DOPUS is unable to remember. I have the option "Automatically save manual sort order where possible" turned on.
If I look in the global Format Folder settings, a list for each folder and subfolders I have set formats for are listed, so that's not an issue. I also have manually sorted the same three folders on the drive my libraries point to, and they are remembered with no issues.
Libraries are able to (and do seem to) save their sort order.
They are distinct from the folders they point to - each will maintain its own sort order.
I see. Since the settings for the underlying drive are being remembered properly, I could simply just work there, instead of that library.
I am going to manually sort these libraries again, and see if they revert in a few days. I do make sure to save them afterwards.
The two sub-sub folders manual sort orders reverted, but the setting was still turned on. The parent of these two was fine. I resorted and saved them. I installed the latest beta, and one of the sub-sub folders reverted again.
I'd like to try uninstalling and deleting the entire installation, and reinstalling. Perhaps some bits got left behind from an update. Are all the installation files in Program Files, ProgramData, and User/Appdata/Local?
