Sounds Bug

Although I have set some sounds in the folder,

C:\Program Files\GPSoftware\Directory Opus\Sounds

The folder keeps defaulting back to:

C:\Windows\Media

So consequently, the sounds don't work unless I use the C:\Windows\Media folder.

I do not have any Opus sounds set, but I seem to remember someone else posting on this subject as far back as a year ago. Try searching to forum for "sounds media folder" and make sure you enable the option to use all search terms.

Which version of Opus? If I remember correctly the way sounds worked changed in Opus 9. (Opus 9 stores its own sound preferences rather than hooking into the Windows sound events control panel.)

When does the folder change? I added some sounds in the same folder and restarted Opus but the preferences are still the same and the sounds still work.

What is displayed for the sound paths in Preferences? Does it show the full path (C:...) or just a relative path (Sounds...)?

I am using Opus 9.

It changes after I apply the changes and close the dialog box.

If I go back in and press the Details button, I get an error message saying:

Windows cannot find C:\Windows\Media\xxxx.wav

Even though I set the wav file in the folder:

C:\Program Files\GPSoftware\Directory Opus\Sounds

I can confirm the same bug now (or at least one that is very similar). I'll talk to GPSoft about it.

I'm seeing something similar. Most of the DOpus sound files I have enabled are working except for Opus Start Up BOOT-111-loud.wav and Opus Shut Down Cymbols.wav. Clicking on Details brings up the Windows Can't Find... error. Browsing to and selecting the said files allows me to hear them using the Play button. Clicking Apply to both and then closing Preferences results in them not activating. Going back to Preferences I see they are still checked, but, not playing and Windows can't find them. Even selecting them as above one by one clicking Apply and OK then closing Preferences and opening Preferences again immediately looses the settings on these two.
