Starting a saved layout from a desktop icon?

I have DOPUS set to startup when Windows opens with the default lister opening any time the desktop is clicked. The Default lister being a fairly standard dual-display with extra toolbars.

  1. I have a folder icon on the desktop which I wish to open in Directory Opus, how do I do this apart from right clicking on it and choosing Open in Directory Opus ? Presently if I click it, it opens in Windows Explorer even though I have dopus set as Explorer replacement?

  2. If it is possible to open in dopus with a single click on the icon, is it then possible to specify a saved lister (not the default one) to open this particular folder?

Thanks - Mike

  1. If Explorer Replacement is on then double-clicking a folder on the desktop should open it in Opus, unless it's a special folder (or one that has been added to the exclusion list in Preferences / Launching Opus / Explorer Replacement).

It might be worth setting Opus to not replace Explorer, click OK, then go back into Preferences and turn Explorer Replacement back on, in case something was wrong with the registry settings before.

  1. Easiest way is to create a layout and then drag the layout from Preferences to your desktop. That will create an icon which you can double-click to open the layout from outside of Opus.

Thanks Leo,

I had found the option to drag the layout from Preferences to the desktop after digging into the Help files. That works as I had hoped. Now for another query, in a Saved Layout is it not possible to turn off unrequired toolbars? I find that if I open a saved layout and close a couple of toolbars not required in that layout, then they turn off in the default layout as well. Is this correct?

Mike

Correct, it's not possible.
